African Football League (AFL) - a continental club competition organised by CAF as a separate tournament for leading African clubs. Regulations: the inaugural edition was staged as an eight-team knockout, with the line-up set by the organiser, and all rounds played over two legs home and away. Ties are decided on aggregate score, then by the away-goals rule, and if still level, by a penalty shoot-out with no extra time. Prize money is allocated by stage, with higher awards for the winners and runners-up, and the overall fund and stage payments are set by CAF decisions.
