

CONCACAF Champions Cup (Concacaf Champions Cup, formerly the CONCACAF Champions League) - the premier international club competition of CONCACAF for teams from North America, Central America and the Caribbean. Regulations: the tournament is played as a direct knockout across five rounds - Round One, Round of 16, Quarterfinals, Semifinals and Final, with 27 clubs in total, 22 entering in Round One and 5 receiving byes to the Round of 16, the first four rounds are played over two legs home and away, while the Final is played as a single match. In two-legged rounds the winner is decided on aggregate, if the aggregate score is level after regulation time of the second leg, away goals are used first, if still level two 15-minute extra-time periods are played, away goals do not carry any additional value in extra time, and if still level the tie is decided by a penalty shoot-out, in the Final if level after regulation time extra time is played and, if necessary, a penalty shoot-out decides the champion. The competition also serves as a qualifying tournament for the FIFA Club World Cup and the FIFA Intercontinental Cup under the current allocation of berths.
