Central American Cup (Concacaf Central American Cup) - an annual international CONCACAF club competition for clubs from Central American associations affiliated with UNCAF. Regulations: 20 clubs take part, the group stage consists of 4 groups of 5 teams, each team plays 4 matches (2 home and 2 away), 3 points are awarded for a win, 1 for a draw and 0 for a loss, and the winner and runner-up from each group advance to the quarterfinals. Quarterfinal seeding is based on the overall group-stage ranking (group winners ranked 1-4, runners-up ranked 5-8), with the higher-seeded club hosting the second leg in the quarterfinals, and the quarterfinals, semifinals, play-in round and finals are played as two-legged home-and-away ties. The quarterfinal losers move to the play-in round, and the play-in winners qualify for the next edition of the CONCACAF Champions Cup (Round One). Group ties are broken by goal difference, goals scored and then head-to-head criteria among the tied teams (points, goal difference, goals scored), followed by disciplinary points based on cards (first yellow 1, second yellow or indirect red 3, direct red 4, yellow plus direct red 5), then CONCACAF club ranking position and, if required, drawing of lots. In two-legged rounds the winner is decided on aggregate score, if aggregate is level after regulation time of the second leg the tie is decided first by away goals, then extra time (two 15-minute periods) and, if still level, a penalty shoot-out, with away goals not applying in extra time and a sixth substitution permitted in extra time.
