UEFA Youth League: matches and statistics

UEFA Youth League - an annual UEFA youth club competition featuring two entry paths and a knockout phase. Regulations: the competition includes 36 clubs in the UEFA Champions League path and domestic youth champions via the domestic champions path, with the title holder allocated a place in the second round of the domestic champions path if required; in the UEFA Champions League path, 36 teams play a league phase where, in principle, pairings and the match calendar are determined by the UEFA Champions League league phase draw and the first six matchdays, each team plays 6 matches against 6 different opponents (3 home and 3 away), points are awarded 3-1-0, and 22 teams qualify for the knockout phase, with ties on points broken by goal difference, goals scored, away goals scored, wins, away wins, then opponent based criteria, disciplinary points and, if needed, drawing of lots; in the domestic champions path, the first three rounds are played over two legs on aggregate and, if level on aggregate, there is no extra time and a penalty shoot-out decides the qualifier at the end of the second leg; in the knockout phase, the 22 qualifiers from the league phase are joined by the 10 winners of the third round of the domestic champions path, the round of 32 draw pairs teams ranked 1-6 with teams ranked 17-22 and pairs domestic champions path winners with teams ranked 7-16, in principle avoiding same association pairings with seeded teams hosting, and all phase two rounds are single-leg, with no extra time and penalties if level, while the semi-finals and final are played at a neutral venue.
