

World Cup Qualifiers - Oceania (OFC) - the Oceania national-team qualifying competition for FIFA World Cup places. Regulations: 11 teams take part, qualifying is played over multiple rounds, in Round 1 the 4 lowest-ranked teams play a single-match knockout mini-play-off, with the winner advancing to Round 2, in Round 2 eight teams are drawn into two groups of four and play a single round-robin, three matches per team, with the top two in each group progressing to Round 3, in Round 3 the semi-finals and final are played as single matches, with each group winner facing the runner-up from the other group, the winner of the final qualifies directly for the World Cup and the losing finalist advances to the FIFA inter-confederation play-offs. Three points are awarded for a win, one for a draw and none for a loss, group positions are decided by points and then goal difference, goals scored, head-to-head criteria among the tied teams, then disciplinary points and drawing of lots, while in knockout matches a draw after 90 minutes is resolved by extra time and, if required, a penalty shoot-out.
