Forecasts

In the first match of the 1/8 finals of Euro 2024, we are waiting for a very interesting pair - the national teams of Switzerland and Italy. One of the teams approached the tournament as a strong mid-table team, while the Italians were perceived by many as the favorites to at least reach the final. But the group stage showed the different strengths of these teams, we will try to figure it out based on the results of their past matches at the Euro and predict the most likely successful bet.

Switzerland took 2nd place in the group, having drawn with Germany and Scotland, plus a victory in the match with Hungary. The first thing that caught the eye when the team played was good organization, but from time to time a lack of mutual understanding in the defensive line was visible. This is why goals were conceded in each match, even Scotland, which set an anti-record for Euro shots and dangerous moments, was able to score a goal against Sommer. First of all, the flanks were problematic, often the defenders got carried away with attacks and rose too high. And Italy's laterals and wingers are very fast and technical and can easily take advantage of this. And maybe even more than once, but this is all based on the example of some "Chiesa in a vacuum", but the Italians did not always use their chances and nothing foreshadows a change in their level of play.

The Italian team took 2nd place in the group, letting Spain go ahead, but the Italians scored only 4 points. If they showed that they are a really strong team with the Albanians, beating them 2-1 (and they could have scored much more), then the match with Spain and Croatia made it clear that Italy is just a good team. Moreover, the team is in the process of restructuring, it is clear that Spalletti has not yet been able to bring to perfection the ideas that he brought with him to the national team. What can we say if it was a couple of players from Inter who scored a goal in their own net in the match with Albania, and who, if anyone, but they should have had excellent mutual understanding. And if it weren't for the goal scored in the 90+8 minute against the Croatians, then under certain circumstances the Italians could have been left out altogether.

In general, there can be no talk of any stability in Italy's game, the Swiss often fail in defense, so I expect both teams to score, and perhaps more than once. To make it more interesting for you, I will offer a double bet:

Sportwars.net forecast for the Euro 2024 1/8 final match, 06/29/24, Switzerland - Italy: OZ - Yes + TB 2.5 (both teams will score and 3 or more goals will be scored in the match), odds 2.75.

Exact score forecast (in regular time): 2-2, odds 16.
