The Austrian Bundesliga, also known as the Admiral Bundesliga, is the top division of professional football in Austria. The league was founded in 1974 and has since become the country's premier football competition. In its current format, the Bundesliga consists of 12 teams, each of which plays 22 matches in the first stage: one at home and one away against each opponent. The season traditionally begins in July and ends in May of the following year.

The Bundesliga format consists of two stages. The first stage is a round-robin tournament, with each team playing every other team twice. The teams are then divided into two groups: the Champions Group and the Qualifying Group. The Champions Group determines the winners and participants of European competitions, while the Qualifying Group is where teams fight for survival and the right to participate in the next season in the top division. The team that finishes last in the Qualifying Group is relegated to the Second League, while the winner of the Second League is promoted.

The history of the league is full of bright moments and great clubs. Rapid Wien is the most decorated club in Austria, with numerous national championships to its credit. Red Bull Salzburg have dominated the league in recent years, winning ten titles in a row from 2014 to 2023, a record in the league's history.

Interesting facts:

• Rapid Wien have won the most Austrian championship titles, with over 30.
• Red Bull Salzburg hold the record for most consecutive championship wins, with ten seasons in a row from 2014 to 2023.
• The St. Jakob-Park stadium in Basel is the largest stadium used in the Austrian Bundesliga, with a capacity of over 30,000 spectators.
• The league regularly features teams with a rich history, such as Austria Wien, Sturm Graz and LASK, who also have long-standing traditions and successes on the national and international stage.
