The Spanish Federation Cup, also known as the Copa Federación Española, is an important tournament for Spanish football clubs, giving them the opportunity to prove themselves at the national level. The tournament was founded in 1944, but after a break, it was revived in 1993 and has been held annually since then.

The Copa Federación is a knockout tournament with several stages, starting with regional qualifiers. The tournament involves teams from lower divisions such as the Segunda Federación and Tercera Federación that have not qualified for the Spanish Cup. This format allows smaller clubs to demonstrate their abilities and have a chance to succeed at the national level.

The 2023/2024 season ended with the final, in which “CF Badalona Futur” defeated “CF Talavera” with a score of 2:1. The final match took place on November 22, 2023, at the El Prado stadium in Talavera de la Reina. This victory was the second in the history of CF Badalona Futur in the Federation Cup, confirming their status as a strong team among the participants of the tournament.

In the semi-finals, CF Badalona Futur defeated UD Logroñés with an aggregate score of 3-2, while CF Talavera won against CD San Roque de Lepe in a penalty shootout after a 1-1 draw in regular time. These matches were filled with tension and drama, demonstrating the high level of competitiveness of the tournament.

The regulations of the Spanish Federation Cup provide for several key stages. The tournament begins with regional qualifiers, where teams compete to reach the national phase. At the national level, teams play in several knockout rounds, starting from the 1/16 finals. In the event of a draw at the end of regular time, extra time and, if necessary, a penalty shootout are held to determine the winner.

The Federation Cup provides a unique opportunity for the development of young talents and clubs from the lower divisions who can make a name for themselves at a larger level. Over the years, the tournament has seen the participation of many famous clubs that have subsequently achieved significant success in Spanish football.

The Spanish Federation Cup therefore continues to play an important role in the Spanish football calendar, promoting football in the regions and giving smaller clubs the opportunity to prove themselves on the national stage.
