The Swiss Super League, known as the Credit Suisse Super League, is the top division of professional football in Switzerland. The league was founded in 1898 and has since become the country's premier competition. Since 2003, the league has operated under its current name and format, with the number of teams increasing from 10 to 12 in 2023.
The Super League format consists of three stages. The first stage is a round-robin tournament, with each team playing 22 matches. In the second stage, teams are divided into two groups: the Champions Group and the Qualifying Group, each of which plays 10 matches. In the final stage, the top two teams in the Champions Group play a best-of-three series for the title. The remaining teams fight for places in European competitions, as well as for survival in the Super League  .
The history of the league is full of bright moments and great clubs. Basel have long dominated the league, winning 11 of the first 14 seasons under the new format. In recent years, BSC Young Boys have taken the lead, winning four consecutive championships since 2017.

• Grasshoppers Zurich hold the record for the most Swiss championship titles, winning the title 27 times.
• BSC Young Boys Bern hold the record for the most consecutive championship wins, winning four in a row from 2017 to 2020.
• The largest stadium used by Super League teams is the Stade de Genève, which holds 30,084 spectators.
• The Swiss Super League is one of the most attended leagues in Europe relative to the country’s population, demonstrating the strong commitment of football fans to their clubs.
• Basel became the first club to play more than 2,000 matches in the Swiss top flight, reaching the milestone in 2019.
