The Saudi Arabian Football League, known as the Saudi Pro League, is the top division of the country's football competition system. The tournament was founded in 1976 and has since become the main football event in Saudi Arabia. The league expanded to 18 teams for the 2023/2024 season, making it one of the most competitive in the region.

Each season runs from August to May and consists of a double round-robin tournament with each team playing 34 matches. The top three teams at the end of the season qualify for Asian club competitions such as the AFC Champions League, while the teams that finish bottom risk relegation to the second division.

In recent years, the Saudi League has attracted a number of high-profile international players, such as Cristiano Ronaldo, who joined Al Nasr. The league has also received support from the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund (PIF), which has acquired significant stakes in several leading clubs including Al-Hilal, Al-Ittihad and Al-Nasr, significantly raising the standard of the competition.
